Best Fishing in Patagonia

Located in northern Patagonia, the town of San Martín de los Andes is ideally surrounded by some of the finest trout waters in the world. It is in this unique place in Argentina where Fly Fishing SMA welcomes its guests.

We've been fishing in the surrounding areas of San Martín for over eight years and we plan custom, fully guided fly fishing trips to these premiere Patagonian trout rivers and lakes for you. If you are looking for a tailor-made fly fishing vacation, you can choose from our wide range of options and we will do our very best to make it perfect!

Eventhough both public and private waters are excellent, we highly recommend a stay at an
Estancia or Lodge. It’s in these lodges where you can experience the privacy you always dreamed of. Live the peace and quiet of a typical Patagonian ranch. Home grown food, cozy fireplaces and spectacular views. Staying in town and going on public waters is just as good fishing wise, but you won´t feel the magic of a dark night with a sky full of stars.

Our number one priority is to share the flyfishing passion with our client. Our trade mark is the personal relationship that we establish with the people that choose to come and fly fish with us, making a big difference with the other major outfitters that work with bigger groups.

  Your host, Alejandro Buchanan

In our guide, Alejandro Buchanan, you will find a friendly and experienced fisherman, passionate about fly-fishing and very patient. Always ready to teach a beginner or to share a great fishing day with the experts!

He was born in 1974 in Mendoza, a province famous for its long and sunny summer days, extensive orchards and vineyards. It was there and as a young child that he was first introduced to fly-fishing by his father, an avid and passionate fisherman who over many years passed his knowledge on to him.

After finishing his Business Degree, and several years of guiding on local rivers later, he decided to set up his own fly-fishing company in order to share his passion with friends and clients alike. Either daily floating trips followed by a delicious argentine asado (Bbq) or multiple-day rafting excursions with evenings spent at comfortable outdoor night camps; he caters for all level fishermen and prides himself in tailoring fly-fishing trips to any client's personal preferences!

Professionalism, personal attention, and being responsive to his clients are his priorities. But most importantly, he guarantees that your fly-fishing vacation will be exactly the way you´ve planned it.
Alejandro Buchanan has worldwide references that he will be happy to share with you.

Testimonials
